Is the 5E version available for 2014 and 2024 editions?
Yes! The 2014 version is already complete and ready for immediate download and printing. The 2024 version is in progress now, with 3 chapters of conversion already completed!

Will there be a Pathfinder version of this book? Or Tales of the Valiant?
YES! It was important to us to launch this project during Black History Month, so the initial project is tightly focused on 5E 2024 only. However, as we’ve done with previous Legendary Bestiaries, we’ll be launching a follow-up project later this year to create Pathfinder First Edition, Pathfinder Second Edition, and Tales of the Valiant versions of African Monsters! We are currently targeting late summer 2025 for that launch.

When will books be shipped?
Based on the popularity of our previous books in this series and the early pledges in the first week, we anticipate doing a full offset print run of African Monsters with our partners in Hong Kong. The production cycle is typically around 5-6 months for books to be printed and shipped, so if things go quickly, we might have books ready to receive before GenCon this summer. Given uncertainties with customs clearance (which can take anywhere from days to weeks), more likely books will arrive and ship later.

Are you making a Starfinder 2E version?
Because the mechanics of Starfinder 2E are functionally identical to those of Pathfinder 2E, we are not currently planning to make a separate Starfinder 2E version. The Pathfinder 2E version already is mechanically compatible with Starfinder 2E on the GM side, so you can play with Starfinder 2E player characters and gear.

Will trade tariffs affect shipping this book?
It’s definitely a possibility. As we note in the Risks and Challenges section below, the possibility of changing tariff policies within the USA may impact the process of printing and shipping African Monsters. The other books in our World of Monsters Bonus Bundle are already printed, so they would only be potentially affected in shipping from us to backers, but a new print run of African Monsters could be affected in price. We’ll keep you updated as we know more.

What happens if I need to change my address?
You can edit your address right here in Backerkit. We’ll send out a reminder to check addresses before we lock them for shipment, so you’ll have 48 hours to make sure your address is correct. Remember that we can’t send your books if we don’t have your address! We want to get your books to you ASAP!

What about tariffs? Will those impact this project?
Probably not. No one can say for sure, given how often things have changed over the past few months with exactly what is subject to tariffs and when. Whether we order an international shipment of books depends on the response to the Kickstarter. If the numbers are sufficient to warrant that order, we have good relationships with overseas printers and can make it happen. Books (for now) are exempt from tariffs, though there’s always a chance something could change. We’ll be in regular touch with you and let you know if anything changes on that score.

I already got the Pathfinder 1E or 5E 2014 version in 2015. Is this different?
We are doing some cleanup editing and adding some narrative connections to tie the individual adventures together in places where years of play have shown they could use a boost. Other than that, the original PF1 and 5E 2014 versions are the same ones you have. This project is designed to bring Legendary Planet to new systems and for anyone who missed it the first time around.

Yes, really. This is a staggering amount of material - well over 700 pages just in the core adventure path, the equivalent of two larger hardcover books (like the PH, MM, or DMG) or even three smaller ones (like Wizards adventure hardcovers, with page counts often in the low 200s). We think it’s a sensational value and hope you will too!

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
